The Surrey Local Habitat Map should be viewed alongside the Statement of Biodiversity Priorities and Description of the Strategy Area.
The measures have been mapped using the latest datasets and habitat information available at a county and national level. This means there may be errors due to the age of data, land use change or misinterpretation from modelling. Please report any data accuracy concerns to the Surrey LNRS team.
Any planned nature recovery actions should not be initiated without a sufficient site-specific review to determine suitability, with appropriate expert advice and input. Such review should also consider any consents that may be required, for example from the local planning authority, relevant Historic Environment team, Environment Agency, Forestry Commission or Natural England.
The mapped measures should not be treated as definitive but as a tool to help plan and coordinate action for nature recovery.
A large number of the measures in the statement of biodiversity priorities are unmapped and do not feature on the Local Habitat Map. These are measures that are equally important or available county wide, represent “supporting” or non-geographic actions or did not have sufficient data to map accurately at this time.
If an area is not mapped it does not mean that there are no opportunities for nature recovery; it means the area has not been prioritised under the current mapping methodology.
Please note that some designations displayed on this map are privately owned and they do not automatically confer a right of public access. Access to a site should always be checked before visiting.
These notes are included in the downloaded report so you can record your professional assessment alongside the spatial result.
